The Judgement Pole

“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 NKJV

The day is coming soon for all believers, the day of the testing of fire. On this awesome and terrible day, we will find out what our hands have built on the foundation of our salvation, Jesus Christ. Our picture, today, brings forth the image of the judgement pole before Christ.  As we step up and our life’s work is placed on the top of the pole. We are now standing in front of the BEMA seat of Christ. Although, there are billions of Saints and Angels standing around and staring at the pole, you feel so terribly alone. It is only you the pole and Christ. The billions around you are not even in your consciousness. Like them, your eyes are fixed without blinking on the pole. Suddenly, the voice of the Lord startles you. You hear Him command an angel to set fire to your works on the pole. Suddenly, dread overcomes you, as you watch the angel walk over to the pole, with torch in hand. Your life flashes before your eyes. The torch is lowered, and your works are ignited. Uncontrollably, as it was for those who went before you, you start yelling at your works on fire, “Glow, Glow, Glow, Please GLOW! The ordeal seems to last for an eternity. Nevertheless, it is over in a few seconds. Silence fills the halls of heaven as all eyes look forward to seeing how your life’s work endured the fire. What will all see? What will you see? What will I see? When the fire is over, will our life glow with the beauty of gold or be an ash heap on the judgement pole? At that moment, we will know the truth about our Christianity.

Friends, we are on this side of heaven and still walking around, alive and kicking in this world. Many Christians live authentic lives in Christ. However, many of us are in danger of seeing ash on the judgement pole. Therefore, whoever of us is worried about the glow of the works of our lives, God has not taken us out of this world, giving us the opportunity to correct our ways. If we want a glow of gold, we must stop tooting our own horn and begin blowing our horn for Christ. No matter what country you live in, start digging for the gold of witnessing for Christ. Please begin mining the silver of loving your neighbor as yourself. Keep watching to express the jewels of kindness and tender-heartedness to your fellow Christians. Start dropping the wood of self-importance, the hay of pride, the straw of arrogance. Please do this now while you have a chance. This picture is worth a thousand words. I hope it speaks to you as it has to me.

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness’; and again, ‘The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.’ Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours: whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come—all are yours. And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-23 NKJV
