AS Christians, we must admit,
We are caught in a personal struggle between two universes, the Material Universe of Sight and the Spiritual Universe of Faith! How must we then live?
It is quite apparent, that you and I are living in the material universe. Our senses confirm this, particularly the sense of sight. Unless you’re one who believes you are a computer program lost in the matrix!
According to the Philosophy of Materialism, there is no other universe, but what we see.
Those who live by the senses, especially sight, only live per the nature of what they visualize! And this nature leads to material world behaviors!
On the other hand, we as Christians believe in the non-material universe of which God, who is a spirit, rules and created all things from. It is a universe which cannot be experienced by the senses nor seen by the eye (although it is expressed in nature and seen in nature). This universe is understood only, by the heart of the mind, through FAITH!
“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” Hebrews 11:3 NKJV
Those who live by faith, live in a universe they cannot sensually see, but spiritually experience. Therefore, they should behave per the rules of the non-material kingdom of God!
This now brings us back to the dilemma, the catch-22, of being materially and physically in the world, yet belonging spiritually, having a positional relationship in the kingdom of heaven, How must we then live?
Let us begin to answer the question,
“How must we then live?”
By asking a question,
Are the standards, laws, and precepts, which God expects to be carried out in the spiritual realm of heaven, different from the standards, laws, and precepts, God expects to be followed in the material world we live in?
So, what is your answer? Is there a difference of rules for those in heaven and for us on earth? If we understand what Jesus said, in the Lord’s Prayer, we can only come to one conclusion. Let us read and listen to the Lord’s Prayer, to see what the conclusion is.
“Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth AS it is in heaven!” Matthew 6:9-10 NKJV
A good question to ask concerning this is, what does the word, as mean? The conjunction, as means, to be stating a comparison.
Jesus is stating Gods will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Therefore, we can conclude, the standards, laws, and precepts demanded of us from God to obey on earth, are the same standards, laws, and precepts, which are followed in heaven! Let us, who are in the dilemma of being between two worlds, try to find out the number-one standard, law, or precept which God expects to be followed in heaven and on earth.
What do you think it is? Anyone?
Let us look at a Biblical clue, which God has revealed.First, let us look in the Old Testament in Habakkuk 2:4 and then the confirmation in the New Testament in Romans 1:17.
“Behold the proud,
His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith.” Habakkuk 2:4 NKJV
“For in it (THE GOSPEL see verse 16) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17 NKJV
Do you see what the Biblical clue is that will solve the dilemma for the Child of God? The Clue is Faith!
FAITH (a confident belief and trust that God is) is the number-one standard, law, or precept demanded of us from God to live (comport or conduct ourselves) by!
Why is the law of faith the number one-law above all laws, including the two Great Commandments to, love God with all the heart and our neighbors as ourselves? Because, it is implicitly STATED in Hebrews 11:6, without faith, we cannot please God.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” NKJV
Faith is the NUMBER ONE-LAW of the KINGDOM OF GOD because without FAITH (That confident belief that God is, and trust in God and His character) NO ONE CAN IN ANYWISE, ANYWAY, NOT-POSSIBLE, TO PLEASE GOD! This Rule is to be done in heaven and on earth!
The Apostle John put it this way in 1 John 5:4,
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” NKJV
God states, the NUMBER-ONE LAW to follow is the Law of Faith, because, lack of FAITH, OR UNBELIEF IS WHAT BRINGS DEFEAT AND SIN INTO THE CREATED BEINGS of GOD in HEAVEN AND EARTH!
Have you ever wondered why the devil was cast out of heaven? Isaiah 14:12-15 teaches us Lucifer had great pride in his heart that he was greater than God!
“How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
For you have said in your heart:
‘I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;4 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
To the lowest depths of the Pit” NKJV
What do you think caused this pride and fall of the devil?
The devil broke the Law of Faith. In his relationship with the ALMIGHTY, he stopped believing in his heart that GOD IS GOD. He then started believing in his heart, he was greater than God. Therefore, a lack of faith caused him to develop pride, which led to anarchy and rebellion. Thus, the GREATOR ONE Cast him out of Heaven.
Have you ever wondered why Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the forbidden tree? Genesis 3:4-6 teaches us the reason.
“Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.” NKJV
What do you think caused this disobedience?
Adam and Eve listened to the serpent. In this act, they broke the Law of Faith, stopped believing in the Goodness and Trustworthiness of God became convinced in their heart; they now knew better. Therefore, they ate the forbidden fruit, and sin entered the world!
The final example to look at is Israel.
Have you ever wondered why the nation of Israel failed to follow and obey God?
After all, they saw God destroy Egypt to set them free.
After all, they saw God lead them out of Egypt as a pillar of smoke by day and a pillar of fire by night.
After all, they saw God part the Red Sea and lead them through to the other side on dry ground … then made the sea collapse on the charging Egyptian army.
After all, they saw God turn the bitter waters of Marah into sweet clean tasting water.
After all, they saw the miraculous provision of Manna every morning for 40 years.
After all, they saw God descend on Mount Sinai and speak to them.
After all, they saw God fill Solomon’s Temple and the fire of the Lord consume the sacrifices.
Yet God tells us who they served in Amos 5:25-26,
“Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel? But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.” KJV
There were the children of Israel facing the dilemma of being in the middle of two worlds, the spiritual and the material. Nevertheless, the Scripture is clear. The Spiritual entered the material to rescue Israel. So, why did they fail?
Listen to Romans 9:30-31,
“What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law” NKJV
Israel failed, because they broke the Law of Faith. Therefore, they could not please God no matter what they did.
Therefore, to answer the question, “How shall we then live?”
The answer is by obeying the Number-One Principle concerning the kingdom of heaven, which is the Law of faith!
Through faith, we receive the substance for our hope and the assurance of all we hope for in the promises of God. Through faith, the spiritual kingdom of God is brought into the material world through us. By faith, we experience Christ alive in our hearts and victory over this world. When we live by faith, we please God. When we don’t live in faith, concerning anything He said in His word, we don’t please God and suffer the consequences.
How do you live your life?
“For Whatsoever is NOT OF FAITH IS SIN!”
This Weeks Life Application
We have seen today, how the serpent worked to destroy the Faith of Adam and Eve. Therefore, this week’s Life Application Project is to seek the Holy Spirit to show us where we have allowed the devil to lie us into losing faith in areas of our Christian walk. Once revealed, repent and ask for God’s grace to be renewed in faith.
