Do This-Not That!

“Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.”

1 Peter 3:8-9 NKJV

As people of God, we are called to do certain actions and to not do other actions.

The to do list:

• Have one mind-the mind of Christ.

• To be compassionate.

• To have familial love.

• To have tender hearts.

• To be courteous-having good manners.

• To not be vengeful when we are victims of evil.

• To not revile or say bad things about others, even though they revile us.

• We are to bless all even our enemies. These are our calling from God.

The not to do list:

• Being contentious and non-scriptural.

• Being unfeeling and mean to people.

• Being hateful.

• Being hardhearted.

• Being selfish and ill mannered.

• Being vengeful.

• Being reviling, gossiping, and a rumor monger.

• Curse everyone. These are not our calling from God.

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.”

James 1:22-24 NKJV

The to do list:

• Hear the Word.

• Do the Word.

The not to do list:

• Hear the Word only.

• Hear the Word and do not do it.

What are people like who hear and do the Word?

• They are enlightened.

• They know who they are in Christ.

• They do not forget what Christ has done for them.

• They are obedient Christians.

• They see the image of Christ in themselves.

• They take the Word seriously and do it.

These are the Beautiful people of God.

What are people like who hear the Word only and do not do the word?

• They are self-deceived.

• They do not know who they are in Christ.

• They forget they are Christians.

• They are disobedient to the Word.

• They do not see the image of Christ in themselves.

• They do not take the Word seriously.

These are not the beautiful of God. They are tares in midst of the church.

Think about it!
